  • General Information

    Principal Design Features
    Alloy C-4 is a wrought nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy for high temperature use with good corrosion resistance.
    Applications This alloy is used to manufacture chemical process equipment, especially for process use at high temperatures where stainless steels do not have adequate strength and/or corrosion resistance.
    Machinability Machinable by conventional techniques.
    Forming Readily formed by conventional methods.
    Hot Working Can be hot worked or hot extruded similar to stainless steels. Cold Working Readily cold worked by conventional means.
    Annealing Solution anneal at 1950 F followed by rapid quench.
    Aging May be aged (after solution heat treatment) at 1200 F for 10 hours to somewhat improve ductility and yield strength withoutadversely affecting the ultimate tensile strength.
    Hardening Hardened by cold working only, but normally used in the solution annealed condition.
